Wīra – elegant pounamu taonga

Here is a little flight of fancy for you.  A long, slim and elegant pounamu taonga.  Perfect to give any outfit that extra touch of class and sophistication.  Tim shaped this taonga so that it ‘twists’ as you run your hand along it. The best shape to describe it is a propeller blade.  He then set raw muka thread (harakeke/flax fibres) and blue cotton alongside to reflect the ribbon and muka worn by his tūpuna.  This muka was made for us by our dear friend who is also a talented weaver.

Carved in deep dark Tangiwai this elegant pounamu taonga has a lovely sense of movement and grace. It is also wonderful to play with, so would be a great taonga for the tactile person.

⭐️ Another one-of-a-kind taonga by Timoti, so you can be assured your taonga is as unique as you are.

⭐️168mm length x 12mm wide

The Story

Wīra is a propeller, but also a wheel.  It also has the sound of something spinning – “wīra”.  It’s just absolutely the right name for this taonga.
