Pounamu Rau

This furled rau(leaf) is carved in the beautiful dendritic Kokopu pounamu found by Tim in the awa of the  Tau Ihu region.

The dendrites (black branching mineral inclusions) form beautiful patterns in the stone, giving it the veining look of a leaf. The green edges curl into the golden browns that are the kiri(skin) of the pounamu. It has a wonderful feel in your hands, perfect for the tactile wearer.

Rau is an elegant taonga that can be worn either way depending on your mood or your outfit. It could be worn by your tamariki and provide a soothing, grounding piece of security for them to hold on to when they are troubled.  Or for an adult a like.
