Stunning Kokopu Pounamu Toki – Mana Taonga

How beautiful and unique is this pounamu toki?  Have you ever seen pounamu like it?  With its marbled colouring, blue band and speckled back this is a rare and stunning piece Kokopu that Tim found here in the awa of Whakatu.   Tim left the kiri, skin, on the top and bottom edges of this toki so you could enjoy the feel and beautiful red colouring of that too.  A larger taonga, this one will certainly stand out in a crowd.

Toki had to be strong to endure the cutting and scraping motions of its use.  Therefore it has come to be a symbol of strength(particularity in time of adversity), courage and fortitude. Toki were also worn by elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.

Toki are a great gift for those heading out on their life journey, facing and/or conquering a challenge, in leadership, connecting to their whakapapa or just generally deserving of a taonga that shows them just what you think of them 😉.
