Stunning Kahotea Pounamu Toki – Mana Taonga

Kahotea derives its name from the white colouring – Kaho meaning light coloured and tea is white or clear.  White stones also express clarity of thought and guidance and were used as marker stones to guide the way,or knowledge stones to be sucked on when learning, thus helping the brain to concentrate and retain the information.

Toki had to be strong to endure the cutting and scraping motions of its use.  Therefore it has come to be a symbol of strength(particularity in time of adversity), courage and fortitude. Toki were also worn by elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
