Māhutonga- Southern Cross pendant

This is hands down one of my most favourite taonga by Timoti ever.  Carved in a classic faceted diamond shape with 4 beautiful little sterling silver stars set in the Māhutonga or Southern Cross formation.  This taonga is elegant, it tells a story and it speaks of eternal matters. Oh and that little white rind tip!  The whole thing is quite simply divine.   The perfect gift for someone who is indeed following their path.

Tim hand made the sterling silver bail and we set it on a sterling silver chain because nothing else felt right.  We source our sterling silver chains from second-hand shops because it just makes sense to do that. It is 925 stamped too in case you were wondering.

⭐️As always, this is a one-of-a-kind taonga by Timoti, so you can be assured your taonga is as unique as you are.

The Story

Māori had various stories about the Māhutonga, and indeed it has different names because of this.  For some, it was an anchor, for others a canoe and for others, it was considered to be an opening in the sky that the winds blew through. However, for all Māori is was an important constellation for navigation and integral in plotting their course to Aoteroa. And no matter where you are on this land you can always find Māhutonga to guide you.
