Mā Garnet Ira on red cord

Ira are dots. Beautiful, perfect, simple ira. Carved from the earth and so connecting you with Papatūānuku. Carved from minerals that have been a part of your universe since, well, the day dot. Each one with its own character, reminding you just how unique you are.

This Ira is carved in a rare white gem-grade garnet Tim found here in our awa.  Garnet is one of the two kohatu given to Tāne Mahuta when he ascended to the tenth heaven to bring back the three kete of knowledge. Garnet is a kohatu of intelligence. The mauri within, Rehutai, allows one to pierce the veil and see the truth.  This is particularly so for captains of waka. When waka pierce a wave the captain is able to see through the wave as it thins out, allowing them to stay on course. This is Rehutai.

In the great houses of learning each student had to choose a white garnet pebble to suck on during wānanga. This was to clear their minds and to help them concentrate and learn.

These taonga are small enough for pepe to wear and look equally great on adults.  Everyone in our whānau wears one. We have two of these garnet ira on black cord and two on red cord – perhaps you’d like a whānau set or something for siblings?

Ira are a force of nature.  So we bring you these simply beautiful creations, because where would the world be without dots?….

With that we leave you with this whakatauki, so you can connect your ira…
