Kahotea Pounamu Ira

Kahotea pounamu is streaked and speckled with white and is derived from the kupu Kaho, meaning light coloured tea(white or clear).  The white swirls on the edge this piece are just divine, like waves in a stormy moana or creamy maunga peaks. And the little brilliant green speckles of chromite are like tiny whetu in Ranginui. I just love this taonga.

Ira are dots. Simple.  However Ira doesn’t only mean dot, it also means your genes or life principal.  Your ira is what links you to your whakapapa, to your tupuna.  Your Ira is integral to who you came from and who you are today.

Every Ira  dot is unique, just as your ira makes you unique.  Gift one on its own or get yourself a pair so you can be connected by your Ira.

The Ira pendants are perfect for everyone. Small enough for tamariki and even pēpē to wear comfortably.

We’d love to see everyone wearing one and then we can all come together and CONNECT THE IRA.

The Story

We just love the universal significance of Ira so much that we wrote a blog about them.  Pop on over here and read all about where the Ira come from and why we think they are so important for the world to enjoy.  Let’s all connect the Ira and make one big beautiful picture together.
