Tamanuiterā – large round pounamu earrings
Tamanuiterā, the sun, making his journey though the sky. The pūrākau tells how Tamanuiterā splits the year between his two beautiful wives, Hine Takurua, the Winter Maid, and Hine Raumati, the Summer Maid. Hine Takurua lives on the ocean and is connected to the foods of the sea. Hine Raumati lives on the land supporting all the food that grows on Papatūānuku. This story speaks to how Māori understand the connection between the path of the sun and the changing seasons.
In the vibrant Marsden Flower Jade, these earrings are stunning and light up when the sun is behind you. They twist and move in your ears, making you feel gorgeous and strong, with the strength of pounamu.
