Pounamu hoop earrings – Pīrori

These are seriously fun and funky pounamu hoop earrings.   The hoop is an earring classic that has been worn by a long line of stylish women over the ages. From the original style queen herself, Cleopatra, to Josephine Baker, Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, Sade, Madonna and even Kate Middleton, all these style icons have sported a pair of hoop earrings.  Hoop earrings represent many different heritages and nationalities, so embracing cultural diversity in a way that is modern and fun.  Our hoop earrings, made from pounamu, bring our very own Māori flavour into the multi-cultural mix.

External Diameter 58mm

We hand make the kidney hooks with sustainably sourced sterling silver.  These hooks close securely with a small loop to ensure the earrings cannot fall from your ear.

Pīrori

The name Pīrori means to twirl round and round.  These earrings connect to the sterling silver hook with a tiny fishing swivel which allows them to twirl freely.  This spinning movement also makes them very therapeutic to play with! A timeless style, every woman needs a pair of hoop earrings.

The finer points

  • We gather the pounamu ourselves, so the type of pounamu we have available to us is always changing depending on what the awa brings to us.  If you see something you love, to avoid disappointment we recommend you take the opportunity to purchase it while you can as we cannot guarantee the same colour pounamu will always be available to us.
  • We carve your Pīrori taonga to order.  Individually hand-carved just for you.
  • Please remember that pounamu is a natural material so every taonga we make from this stone will be distinct due to the unique variations within the stone.
  • Precious things take time – please allow up to 14 days from your order to completion of your taongaIf you need your taonga urgently please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
