Angiangi – speckled pounamu earrings

Long, slim, speckled lovelies.  Perfect for a fun day out and elegant enough to wear on into the evening. Check out the gorgeous little golden tips that just set the colour off.  These earrings are made of a nephrite/diopside mix that is unique to Te Tau Ihu.

We were able to carve just 4 pairs in this fascinating stone and only 2 left. Three of them are longer in style and it is lovely feeling their movement on your skin and around your neck.

  • Length, 110mm from hook to tip.
  • Hung on our handmade sterling silver kidney hooks that have a little catch at the back so your favourite earrings won’t fall from your ears.
The Story

Angiangi is the bearded lichen you find growing on sick or dying trees. This lichen was used for absorption in sanitary items. Due to its excellent antibiotic and antifungal properties, it was also used to prevent and treat an infection. With their gorgeous yellow tips, creams and deep greens these earrings remind us of that Angiangi lichen settling on the trees.
