Matomato – luscious green pounamu ring
Matomato means to be lush, grow vigorously and flourish. The brilliant green of this pounamu left us with no other name in mind. Matomato also means to be pleasing to the eye. This ring is certainly that. I left the back open to allow the light to come through and illuminate this pounamu even more. It’s really magic. And when you take it off and hold it up to the light, well it’s matomato.
I adorned the ring band with marama and whetu as this piece felt very celestial. And being that pounamu originally came from the stars he can rest easy in this setting.
