Toki Iti – small pounamu hei toki

This sweet wee taonga is the perfect size for your tamariki, but looks equally at home on an adult sized human.  A lovely wee gift to give someone strength and courage, to acknowledge their wisdom and leadership skills or to give them a piece of home to carry with them on their travels.

Hold this taonga up to the sun, or put it on your phone torch, and you will see this taonga light up. It is absolutely magical.

Toki were one of the most important tools for Māori and were used for any number of everyday jobs such as cutting down trees, carving out waka, digging ground, Moa hunting and food preparations.

The Toki had to be strong to endure the cutting and scraping motions of its use it became a symbol of strength(particularly in times of adversity), courage and fortitude.  Toki were also worn by elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
