Manaia Pounamu Shard
With the head of a bird, tail of a sea creature and body of a human, Manaia bring connection and balance between sky, earth and sea. Manaia are guardians against evil and messengers between the spirit world and earthly realms.
As Tim held this piece in his hand he knew that thats exactly what it was – a Manaia. He lightly etched the raw face to help its character come through.
You will want to hold a phone torch up to this taonga so you can see the magic as the light comes through. You can wear this taonga either way, depending on your mood. And it has a wonderful grounding feel as you hold it in your hands. Lightweight and slim enough to wear everyday this is a beautiful Tangiwai manaia taonga.
