As we wander the awa, listening to the Kōriroriro and Pipiwharoroa and letting our minds go where ever they need to, we very occasionally stumble upon a natural pounamu pebble of completeness. I don’t know if that makes sense. But the thing is, when you pick up these small taonga you know, they have to stay just as they are. They cannot be cut and shaped to suit our plans. Tim simply polishes them to let their inner beauty out. Then they are strung, a whole pebble with all their beautiful flaws.
This one bears its own scars but it is beautiful because of them. Layers that shimmer and move in the light in a way I can’t capture with still pictures.
