Ethereal White Garnet Ira

The beautiful white garnet. Garnet, particularly white garnet, was a very important kohatu for Māori and we think its time garnet made its comeback in Aotearoa.  Garnet is a very strong stone that was used for cutting and polishing pounamu. Large white boulders were used as whenua markers and small white pieces would be held in the mouth at wānanga to aid with learning and memory.    Garnet is lovey to work with and is so soothing in the hand.

Our Ira are our signature taonga. We love the universal significance of  Ira so much that we wrote a blog about them.  Pop on over here and read all about where the Ira come from and why we think they are so important for the world to enjoy.  Let’s all connect the Ira and make one big beautiful picture together.
