Pounamu Tukutuku – flowing pounamu earrings
As tapatoru are a prominent symbol of te ao Māori used extensively in tukutuku panels, we decided that Tukutuku was the perfect name for these whakakai.
These earrings are my absolute favourite to wear. They move in such a mesmerising way in your ears, highlighting that beautiful neckline and décolletage. And my most favourite part, they tinkle! So you can enjoy the delicate and soothing sound of pounamu in your ears as you go about your day. It is what I imagine it would be like to wear wai (water).
They would look incredible with your fancy cocktail dress, moreover they also look fantastic with a pair of jeans. A very versatile style. Truly, I absolutely love mine for all these reasons. They make me feel extraordinary when I wear them.
And oh so unique! Each pair is made from one complete slice of pounamu. Tim then patiently carves each slice down as thin as he can make it so the light play through them. He weighs each pair to ensure they won’t be heavy in your ears. Then we make the wee jump rings and carefully weld each one together so their is no risk of you losing one.
